2/6 Solar Punk Farm Hacking Workshop

Technology is meant to be hacked! Thank you to all the solar punk hackers who came out to Revive the Roots to experiment and learn! You all are inspiring. Together, we can start building the DIY decentralized infrastructure of the future now. In this workshop, folks learned to build an Arduino-powered climate control system for greenhouse production! They measured temperature and light levels and controlled any number of heaters, grow lights, pumps, etc.

Greenhouse control systems can be so expensive to install, but the electronics used in them are actually really simple. In our first workshop, we just started with making a program that turned a light on when it got dark. Tomorrow, we are going to solder a fan to an Arduino board to turn it on when the temperature gets too high. Tune in next time.

Also, yes it did get a little nerdy and weird!
