Marlene (they/she)

Marlene (pronounced Mar-LEN; also goes by Merle) is a queer hispanic who loves arts, DIY projects, cooking, trying new craft beers, and discovering the natural world around them. They love biking long distance, rendezvousing around moonlit campfires with friends, and singing and jamming on the guitar. They are passionate about autonomous modes of living, food sovereignty, and dismantling capitalism, and are always interested in learning more and expanding their consciousness. They often will refer to themselves in the third person. Just kidding, I don’t.

Outside of Nuts and Bolts, they’ve worked with Hope’s Harvest to rescue food from farms that would otherwise go to waste and deliver it to hunger relief agencies all over Rhode Island. Having moved here in July 2020 after completing their undergraduate degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences, they began to fall in love with the beautiful beaches, woods, and wetlands of Rhode Island. They are always excited about exploring more, and love hearing and learning from other folks!
